Text Box: Assessing Progress When you first walk into our school you will notice that the students all wear different colored belts representing rank. This is part of the martial arts tradition and is used to indicate the level of accomplishment and mastery of skills. As you increase your level of skill, you will move up through the ranks by changing the color of your belt to symbolize your achievement. The Rank Promotion Procedure When you begin your training you will start with a white belt. Within a couple of class’s you will earn a Black Stripe. This Stripe indicates that you are on the road to becoming a Black Belt. Each rank also includes earning two colored stripes that let you know that you are progressing properly. Stripe Test’s are informal tests held at the end of class and have no cost and will aid in your first belt promotion test. After attending the proper amount of class’s, minimum amount of time, and learning the criteria needed to earn your next belt, you will be tested in class on the requirements to be promoted to the next rank. After passing all these test’s you will be invited to your first belt rank promotion. After demonstrating your skill level, you will be awarded your first colored belt. With each colored belt you will also receive a certificate of promotion as an official certification of your skill. The minimal fees listed below are charged for each test, to cover the cost of the instructor's time, your new belt and your certificate. Adults It will take a minimum of four years and three month’s to earn a Nass’s Martial Arts America Black Belt. The minimum test schedule and test fees are as follows: Yellow Belt - 3 Months - $30.00 Green Belt - 3 Months - $30.00 Blue Belt - 9 Months - $35.00 Red Belt - 1 Year - $45.00 Brown Belt - 1 Year - $55.00 Black Belt - 1 Year - $120.00 (Total 4 Years - 3 Month’s) Juniors (8-17 years) It will take a minimum of four years and three month’s to earn a Nass’s Martial Arts America Black Belt. Those under sixteen years of age will test for a Junior Black Belt. Sixteen and seventeen year olds will test for Junior or Adult Black Belt according to the individual. The minimum test schedule and test fees are as follows: Yellow Belt - 3 Months - $30.00 Green Belt - 3 Months - $30.00 Blue Belt - 9 Months - $35.00 Red Belt - 1 Year - $45.00 Brown Belt - 1 Year - $55.00 Black Belt - 1 Year - $120.00 (Total 4 Years - 3 Month’s) Rangers (5-7 years) It will take from four years and six month’s to about five years to earn a Nass’s Martial Arts America Junior Black Belt. The minimum test schedule and test fees are as follows: Orange Belt - 2-3 Month's - $20.00 Neon Yellow Belt - 2-3 Month's - $20.00 Yellow Belt - 2-3 Month's - $20.00 Green Belt - 3 Months - $20.00 Green\Blue Belt - 6 Month's - $30.00 Blue Belt - 6 Months - $35.00 Red Belt - 1 Year - $45.00 Brown Belt - 1 Year - $55.00 Junior Black Belt - 1 Year - $120.00 Mighty Mites (3-5 years) Mighty Mites earn their Stripes and Belts by participation, class attendance, and the development of skills based on age and abilities. The basic test schedule is as follows: Purple Belt - 3 Months - $15.00 Neon Green - 3 Months - $15.00 Red\White\Blue - 3 Months - $15.00 Orange\White - 4 Months - $15.00 Green\Blue\Black - 4 Months - $15.00 Camo - 4 Months - $30.00 The Camo Belt is the promotional Belt need to advance into the Ranger Program. This promotion will come when a student turns six or when the student is ready to attend Rangers class’s no matter what their age. As a Camo Belt, students will test for their Neon Yellow Belt as their first promotion as a Ranger. Mighty Mites that are ready to advance into the Ranger Program due to becoming six years old will do so by testing for the Red\White\Blue Belt no matter what their rank as a Mighty Mite is.
